How do you start?

It’s really very simple. watch the attached videos and you’ll get the hang of it in no time!

The KNOTS

There are two types of knots: the BASIC KNOT and the TIE KNOT.
The basic knot is used for square and rectangular gifts and the tie knot is used for bottles.

WRAPPING METHOD for square or rectangular gifts

WRAPPING with the BASIC KNOT

  • Place your gift in the center of the furoshiki
  • Take two opposite corners and fold them over the gift in the center
  • Take the remaining opposite corners and tie them in a knot above the folded corners

WRAPPING with the TIE KNOT

  • Place the furoshiki shawl (with the desired side on the outside) down and place the gift diagonally on the corners of the fabric
  • Fold one corner over the gift
  • Fold the adjacent corner over the gift, folding and tucking the edge so that it lines up neatly with the edge of the fabric. (Your furoshiki cover should now be in the shape of a triangle)
  • Fold the long side of the fabric 2-3 times (depending on the fabric size) until the folded edge touches the edge of the gift on the inside
  • Turn the remaining fabric counterclockwise
  • Holding the two twisted corners, bring them together over the corner of the gift and tie a knot. Tuck the edges of the tie under the fabric.

SINGLE BOTTLE WRAPPING METHOD

SINGLE BOTTLE WRAPPING

  • Place the furoshiki wrapper (with the side you want on the outside) facing down and place the bottle in the center of the fabric
  • Take two opposite corners of the wrapper and tie once or twice above the bottle cap
  • Twist the remaining opposite corners around the bottle and secure by tying a knot at the front or back of the bottle
  • Return to the knot at the top of the bottle. Twist the loose fabric, leaving 3-4 cm of the corner free to make a tight knot for the handle

DOUBLE BOTTLE WRAPPING METHOD

DOUBLE BOTTLE WRAPPING

  • Place the furoshiki shawl (with the side you want on the outside) down with the corner facing you.
  • Place bottles upright. Align bottles so they are directly in front of you (i.e. next to each other)
  • Carefully place bottles face down so that the tops of the bottles are facing the left and right corners of the fabric.
  • Take a corner (closest to you) and roll over the bottles. Continue rolling until the farthest corner is rolled
  • Gently grasp the left and right corners to place bottles upright
  • Tie loose corners in a knot over bottles
